BOW WATERS CANOE CLUB
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Bow Waters Canoe Club
is a non-profit organization that offers an extensive canoe tour schedule,
rentals to members, and a quality lessons program. The Lessons Program serves the Calgary and Alberta
region through four initiatives: Adult
lessons, Group lessons (schools, scouts, guides, etc.), Youth summer canoe
camps and Equipment rentals. We stress
safe canoe instruction in courses ranging from Basic Flatwater to Introductory,
Intermediate and Solo

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Canoe Camp Instructor.
Duties:
- lesson planning,
instruction/supervision & evaluation of skill-oriented canoe daycamps
- novice, intermediate
& canoe tripping, on day and over-night trips
- equipment inventory
management & as required, maintenance of equipment and facilities
This is a great

Qualifications:
- excellent
interpersonal skills: interact with students and the public in a
professional manner, under all conditions
- river
paddling experience
- current
certification in Standard First Aid/CPR
- ARCA
Tandem & Solo River Instructor certification, (certification courses
will be arranged - subsidies may be available)
- instruction/leadership
experience with youth and adults in an outdoor setting
- valid
drivers license; a clean driving record and light trailer towing experience
would be an asset
- able
to provide a current police record check
- low-impact
tripping skills would be an asset
- experience
with Voyageur canoes would be an asset
- Bronze
Medallion, Bronze Cross or Lifeguard certification would be an asset
- other
certifications that would be an asset, include:

Canoe Tripping Instructor

Moving Water Instructor – Level I & II
·
Swift
Water Rescue
·
Wilderness
First Aid
·
Class
4 Drivers License
Employment Terms:
Full-time, July and August. Part-time/full-time also available April –
October.
Rate of pay to be based on experience/qualifications: up to $148.00 per day
